Look into the behind the scenes of animation at FMX 2021

Filmakademie’sAnimationsinstitut hosts the 25th edition of FMX, May 4-6. From starting off as a student event, FMX has developed into one of the world’s most important conferences dedicated to digital entertainment.



Here are some of the presentations taking place at this year's virtual FMX.


What do souls actually look like? The creative and technical efforts that created the unique ethereal characters in Pixar's Soul



What is the meaning of life? How can babies already have personalities? Pixar's Soul takes us on a journey to the place where these questions can be answered. But in order to visualize this ethereal place, before life begins, the looks development team had to figure out what souls actually look like. Join Markus Kranzler (Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios) as he explains the creative and technical efforts that went into creating these unique characters.


Storytelling through Costume Design

Join visual development artist Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay as she shares some of her favorite designs for Walt Disney Animation Studios, focusing on her inspiration and approach to costume design.

Raya and the Last Dragon Join Kyle Odermatt - VFX Supervisor, Kelsey Hurley -Technical Supervisor, Rob Dressel - Dir. of Cinematography - Layout and Adolph Lusinsky - Dir. of Cinematography - Lighting as they share the making of Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Raya and the Last Dragon," one of the Studios' most visually ambitious projects to date, a project created almost entirely from home.
